Springfield, Illinois—August 15, 2002:

Twelve young writers from across Illinois gathered recently to autograph the book they wrote commemorating the 150 th Anniversary of the Illinois State Fair. Their limited edition book, entitled State Fair Time Warp, was published just in time for the State Fair, and promises to be a lasting souvenir for participants and Fair-goers alike! This marvelous kids' book was sponsored by Springfield-based WeWrite Company and printed by Peoria's MultiAd. With the support of the Illinois State Fair, an exciting writing workshop was held on the stage of the Illinois Building. After touring the grounds and hearing about the history of the Fair, the children brainstormed a story while facilitators wrote down their ideas. An intriguing story about time-travel evolved as a photographer captured the kids' excitement. Off to the side, illustrator Troy Freeman busily sketched as the children collaborated. Watching these energetic kids work together, often acting out their ideas, was fascinating!

And watching them proudly autographing copies of State Fair Time Warp made it clear how impactful this amazing experience was for the young authors. The book is available on the Fairgrounds at Sutter's State Fair Taffy, and at the Book Emporium on Sangamon Avenue, as well as at Barnes & Noble.
The story can be previewed and purchased online at

"What a terrific concept!" says Sarah Watson, Director of Literacy for Governor George H. Ryan's office. "I had the opportunity to watch the authors at work, and now we're including State Fair Time Warp as reward with the Reading Passport. I highly recommend this book.  After all, it's about our own Fair!"

State Fair Time Warp is currently available for sale at Barnes & Noble, the Book Emporium, and at Sutter's State Fair Taffy's stand located near the main gate of the Fairgrounds. For more information, contact WeWrite Company, 217-498-8458.
